35 miles east of San Francisco is a 1.8 million-square-foot (167,000-square-meter) commercial property with picturesque landscaping, reflecting pool and beautiful architecture. This office complex was originally purchased in 1983 by Pacific Bell as their headquarters presence.  The property has gone through a number of hands as mergers and acquisitions brought SBC Communications Inc., and AT&T into the mix.  In 2014, Sunset Development Co. and MetLife Inc. purchased the property and plan to add amenities such as new restaurants, auditoriums, town center and a day care.

Aside from the sprawling landscape and aesthetically pleasing setting, the use of Monolithic Membrane 6125® is how the building’s roof system has remained completely waterproof for more than 30 years.  In 2014, AT&T requested a new chiller for the roof and underwent necessary inspection prior to renovation.  Contractors and full inspection team took samples of the 28-year old original membrane, Hydrotech MM6215®.   Test results showed little to no sign of wear, moisture penetration nor decreased performance and protection to the building’s roof surfaces.

The durability and strength of American Hydrotech’s MM6125 delivered AT&T tremendous and unanticipated cost savings as they expected many needed repairs in such an aged roof.   Just goes to show you that no matter how many companies have purchased or inhabited the building due to an ever-changing business world of the last 30 years, American Hydrotech’s materials will remain the constant, trusted waterproofing material.
