Garden Roof® Assembly: Semi-Intensive

The Semi-Intensive Garden Roof® Assembly is considered a lightweight assembly, but with a slightly deeper soil depth, and is designed to support sod lawns as well as perennials.

Lawns have unique needs due to the foot traffic they experience. Designers have the ability to create large lawn areas on rooftops using a Garden Roof Semi-Intensive Assembly. Generally accessible by adjacent hardscape areas, such as a patio, design professionals now have the opportunity to create beautiful additional usable space on projects.

The assembly incorporates a LiteTop® growing media that provides a firm structure for pedestrian areas while providing proper aeration for good root growth. Lawns require more water for proper establishment and long term growth. Hydrotech strongly recommends that a permanent irrigation be included in the assembly.

Features of the Garden Roof Semi-Intensive Assembly:

  • Depth of growing media between 200mm and 300mm
  • Increase of usable space
  • Integrated hardscape options
  • Regular irrigation
  • Regular maintenance

Typical Application:

A Garden Roof® Assembly can expand the livable space of a building through the integration of hardscaped areas with lush landscaped areas of lawn and other vegetation. The maintenance required for these spaces is similar to the care that would be required to maintain this space at grade.
