Moody Gardens Hotel & Convention Center on Galveston Island in TX is a prime example of the magical transformation that can occur when an area is undergoing renewal. Located within the 242-acre Moody Gardens, the hotel’s appearance enhances Galveston Island aesthetically as much as it impacts local lodging capacity.

The building’s design focus is evident on the lower roof, which was transformed into a striking plaza for guests, who can stroll it, or just view it from the many rooms towering above. And much like the roof’s aesthetics, waterproofing integrity could not be sacrificed, given both its function and the area's heavy rainfall during hurricane season.

These criteria lead the building team to Hydrotech's Ultimate Assembly®, a single source system that combines durable MM6125® waterproofing, insulation, drainage, and a finished surface of Terra Pavers-H®, available in a wide variety of color and texture for extra design flexibility. The end result was an eye-catching blend of colorful pavers and large planter beds – over a membrane quite capable of withstanding heavy rainfalls.

In fact, the lower roof has caught so many glances that the hotel has already renovated several other roofs to match its colorful design, using the very same Terra Pavers-H.
